The Titanic

The activity opens as a book with a picture of the Titanic on the cover and then eight pages of text describing the Titanic and the disaster that occurred on April 14, 1912. After each page of text, the child is presented with a multiple choice question which tests for comprehension of the previous page’s content. This template allows for up to ten of these reading and question sets. The Titanic was created in the Learning Magic “Text Only TOCR” template from the Comprehension CD.

With this particular template, a child can either read the text silently or click on the text box to have it read aloud to them.

This format provides educators and other interested parties with the capability to have children read and/or listen to stories and then be able to assess a child’s reading and listening comprehension.

The child has the option to go back and read the previous page if they are not sure of the answer to the question. As the questions are answered, we are tracking and capturing all of their responses and the activity will both grade and provide appropriate reporting using the IntelliPics Studio 3® reporting capabilities. (Data recording is not available using the player.)

Applications needed: IntelliTools Classroom Suite®, IntelliTools Classroom Suite Player®, or IntelliPics Studio 3®.
Curriculum area: History and Language Arts.
Level: Grades 3-5.
