The activity chronicles one of the most famous frontiersman’s life from early childhood, through his teen years and into political life. It also recounts Davy’s departure from Tennessee and his unfortunate death at the Battle of the Alamo. After children read a one page biographical narration on Davy, they are presented with five multiple choice questions to answer.

Roscoe in the Desert (Template)  (click title for download page)

Roscoe (a goose) takes a trip through the desert and encounters various desert plants and animals including a roadrunner, a chuckwalla, peccary, bat eared fox, joshua tree and barrel cacti. Each page provides a photograph of the various encounters as an animated Roscoe walks by. A text box is then provided for children to write about the trip and the picture they are looking at.

Roscoe In The Desert (Jimmy’s Story)  (click title for download page)

This activity is the result of a fourth grader using the Roscoe’s Desert Trip Activity/Template to describe his impressions and thoughts about Roscoe the Goose’s trip. This activity can be used as a reading activity or as an example for children to see how another child wrote about his understanding of the desert and what Roscoe experienced as a goose in the desert..
