Halloween Subtraction to 9 is based upon the NEW Learning Magic “Subtraction Plus” template. In this template we not only track the correct mathematical calculation but also track and check that the correct objects (i.e. children dressed as ghosts and or witches) are put into the counting boxes as described in the text box above.
The eight problems deal with children in various situations as they trick-or-treat on Halloween evening. The screen shot depicts the first page which describes a situation where seven children come to a house’s door dressed in ghost and witch outfits. Two of the children then leave after receiving candy, and the student is asked to provide both the visual images and correct numbers in each counting box as well as to write the equation below.
Children can self check their work to see if they are correct. If you own a copy of IntelliMathics 3®, data is also automatically collected and a report generated based upon the student’s work. A custom IntelliKeys® overlay is provided for this activity
